Through this experience I have been exploring The Children's Defense Fund and all the wonderful opportunities they are able to provide.
* This organization has dedicated their time and resources to helping children who are facing poverty situations and making a difference in their lives.
* It has given me links to statistics on poverty stricken states and education facts, I was shocked to see that the state of Mississippi had 83% of their students unable to read on their grade level.
* This website offered great ideas on how to make a difference and help this organization such as donating time, money, and how to email government officials in the community.
* One of the major goals is just to raise awareness for poverty and getting people involved and making a difference in these children's lives because they deserve and equal chance.
I agree that the CDF website offers lots of valuable resources that can be very beneficial for our careers in early childhood development and education. I enjoy receiving weekly and monthly emails from them highlighting particular trends and issues of this day and time. It is also great that they are having a convention coming up that seems to be much different than what they have done in the past!
